Welcome to the Health Shift Book Club!
Hello, and welcome! I'm so glad you're here.
I wrote Health Shift because I believe people deserve more than health information—they deserve a way to make sense of it. My goal was to create a guide that helps people coach themselves through health challenges, navigate uncertainty, and feel confident that they're making the best possible decisions for themselves and the people they love.
And now, here we are, taking that journey together.
This isn't your typical book club. While we'll discuss ideas from the book, the real goal is to help you apply them to your own life. Along the way, you'll gain insights into what's been influencing your health decisions, discover what's been getting in your way, and identify practical next steps you can take to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
My hope is that by the end of this experience, you'll not only understand the concepts in Health Shift—you'll see your health differently.
A Quick Tour
This page is designed to help you get the most out of the Book Club experience.
Chapter Readings: Each week's assigned chapters are listed at the top of the page.
Live Experiences: You'll find links to reserve your spot for our weekly live sessions. These are an opportunity to dive deeper into the material, hear behind-the-scenes insights from the book, and explore how these ideas apply to real-life health situations.
Cliffs Notes: Short on time? We've got you covered. Each week includes a Cliffs Notes-style summary highlighting key concepts and takeaways from the reading.
Bonus Resources: Throughout the Book Club, I'll share additional articles, tools, videos, and resources that expand on the ideas in the book and help you continue learning.
Ask Dr. Alice: Have a question? Every week you'll have the opportunity to submit questions about the material and how it relates to your own health journey. I'll do my best to answer as many as possible during our live sessions. You're welcome to submit questions anonymously if you'd prefer.
Most importantly, don't worry about getting everything perfect. Stay curious. Reflect often. Think about how these ideas show up in your own life.
This is your opportunity to become the hero of your own health story.
Let's get started.

Quick Notes
The first step toward better health is recognizing that you have more influence over your health journey than you may realize and choosing to become an active participant in the process.
Big Idea #1
Many people move through healthcare as passengers, waiting for someone else to solve their problems or tell them exactly what to do. While healthcare professionals play an important role, lasting change often begins when we decide to take ownership of our health decisions. Becoming a Health Hero means shifting from a reactive mindset to a proactive one. It means getting curious, asking questions, gathering information, and recognizing that small daily actions can have a powerful impact on long-term health. You don't need to know all the answers today—you simply need to begin participating in the process.
Big Idea #2
Health exists on a spectrum rather than in two categories of "healthy" and "unhealthy." At different times in our lives, we move between levels of health depending on our habits, circumstances, environment, stressors, and medical conditions. Understanding where you currently fall on the Health Spectrum helps you choose appropriate next steps and avoid comparing your journey to someone else's. Improvement doesn't require perfection. It requires awareness, honesty about your current situation, and a willingness to take the next logical step toward better health.
By the end of this week, the goal is not to have a perfect plan or complete understanding of every health topic. The goal is simply to begin seeing yourself as the primary driver of your health journey—someone capable of learning, making decisions, and taking meaningful action one step at a time.
